Armando Eliu Melgar Diaz is allegedly a leader in MS-13, an international criminal gang. Diaz moved to the United States from El Salvador and settled in Virginia. He was deported twice and has been in El Salvador since 2016. Federal prosecutors alleged that Melgar Diaz oversaw MS-13 operations on the East Coast of the United States, as well as in El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico. Melgar Diaz is in custody in El Salvador. He is the first MS-13 member to be charged with terrorism in the United States.
